All-on-4

For patients missing all or most of their teeth, replacing each and every tooth with an individual dental implant (one-for-one replacement) can be an expensive and invasive process. Thankfully, there’s an equally effective — yet less invasive and less expensive — tooth replacement option for these patients known as all-on-4.

What Is All-On-4?

All-on-4 is a tooth replacement option appropriate for patients missing all or most of either or both arches of their teeth. Similar to a denture, all-on-4 includes an arch of replacement teeth mounted to a special plastic that’s designed to look like natural gums. Unlike traditional dentures, however, all-on-4 is permanently fixed in the mouth with four strategically placed dental implants.

What Are the Benefits of All-On-4?

All-on-4 offers several benefits over traditional dentures:

The All-On-4 Procedure

The process for getting all-on-4 dental implants varies slightly from patient to patient. The procedure always begins with a consultation, dental x-rays, and a CBCT scan to evaluate your existing bone structure and assist in manufacturing your all-on-4 permanent denture.  The first step is to remove any few remaining teeth from the dental arch to be treated and prepare the jawbone and mouth for implant placement with bone grafting, if necessary.  Once your jawbone has adequate bone mass to support the dental implants, they are typically placed during a single procedure. This placement is followed by a recovery period which can last for about six months. During this time, your jawbone and dental implants undergo the process of osseointegration as they fuse together.  Once healed, we can then permanently attach your new denture to your four strategically placed dental implants, and you can continue to practice your regular oral hygiene routine at home.

Find the Tooth Replacement Option That’s Right for You at ONE Dental

All-on-4 is a great option for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth on one or both dental arches. However, it is not always the right tooth-replacement treatment option for everyone. Patients must be healthy enough to undergo the dental implant placement process, which means having generally good gum health with no signs of infection. Additionally, they must also be able to abstain from tobacco use at least throughout treatment but preferably for as long as they have dental implants in place.
